Feminist Frequency on race and casting for The Hunger Games

Happens with male roles as well, one of the many reasons I hate the media.

Keep my vagina out of it.

The reason there has been a lot of opposition towards and controversies behind the vaginal bleaching cream product is because once again society is enforcing more ‘standards’ to the perception of “ideal woman” along with fairness, skinny body, big boobs, tiny waist.. you get the idea.

It gives ladies another redundant shit to be conscious about because they’re shoving this idea in people’s heads that normal vaginas are not acceptable, it has to fucking light up the room.

It’s like those fair and lovely ads that could not be any more demeaning; sending messages across that ‘lighter people are more beautiful, successful, and better as a whole. If you’re not light, then it sucks to be you.’ This product has become such an eminent part of people’s lives especially in South Asia, that people actually swallow all these perceptions that light is beautiful, dark is disgusting.. no matter what or who it is.

This vagina bleach cream ad and the ones that promote fairness is equivalent to advertising that ladies who have meat on their bones are miserable, dull people but skinny peeps on the other hand are brilliant and beautiful. It’s wrong, devaluing, disgusting and it causes people to lose self value no matter how remarkable they really are as a person.

There should not be a product like that or at least they should not market it in such a devaluing way. Because people eat that shit up like mofos and the people that are behind these products are well aware of it and dive into the opportunity with no remorse because they are assholes and that is what assholes do.

As usual, I found myself too careful, too held in. Every day we’re told that we live in the greatest day in age, and it’s always stated as an undeniable fact: The spring equinox falls this year on the 20th of March, Sushi is available pretty much all over the world, and…

An enigmatic phenomenon: Music

It’s amazing how music can work as a time machine. It’s that moment when you pop the headphones into your ears and you listen to that old, familiar tune that you once put on repeat during the summer of 2003 and the memories all begin to rush back of the thoughts that sat in your mind, the emotions that rushed through your bones when you used to belt out to that song ages ago. With each passing beat, you absorb the senses you’ve once experienced and you let your soul escape with the sound. It all suddenly comes back and pulls you back to that time, to those moments. Some songs feel heartwarming and nostalgic and some songs remind you of the things you’ve tried to brush under the carpet.

One thing I really enjoy witnessing is when my dad comes across an old song that immediately shoots up memories of his childhood and you instantly see a smile spread across his face right before he begins to reminisce and share his back-in-the-day stories which never failed to intrigue. Those were the only times I didn’t mind sitting in the car through century old tunes that were barely audible just because it made him happy.
And there’s that tune that takes me back 6 years to a time when I was heartbroken and I would lie on the floor of my room as the night falls with a pillow clenched to my chest.

It’s crazy. The connection it has with emotional experiences, spirit, memories and basically every aspect of your life.

That shit is just cray.

Annnnnnd now I shall take the time to read about music therapy out of sudden impulse. My exams can wait..
